Grade 8 Classes
This is the class that a new referees (Grade 9) will take after they have refereed for one season. Previously called Bridge, this class is for grade 9 Recreational Referees who want to upgrade to grade 8. This qualifies you to be a competitive Referee.   The Grade 8 class includes 8 hours of instructions, usually over two days. To take this class, Referees must be 14 years old; if younger than 14, a grade 9 referee must take a Recertification class to referee the following year.  Cost of the Grade 8 class is $60.

This class is also to reinstate Referees that have not recently certified. Contact the Registrar for details.

This class is also for referees that were never USSF certified but have referee experience with other organizations (High School, AYSO or other). Please contact the Registrar to provide the organization referee number and receive approval.

Additionally, this class is for those referees that missed the November-December-January recertification window and wish to maintain their certification for the upcoming year.

Finally, this class is for those that wish a refresh of all the laws of the game.

Recertification Classes
These classes are required every year to maintain your current referee grade. This class is for for grade 9, 8 and 7 that wish to recertify for the following year at the same grade level. This class focuses on specific aspects of the game and provides updates to the Laws of the Game.  The class lasts 5 hours. The cost of the Recertification class is $55.
Note1: if you took a Summer class, you do not need to recertify until the following year. In fact you should have received the following year's badge.

Note2: we have eliminated the "Grade 9 only" Recertification class. The "new" recertification class will be for grade 9, 8 and 7.

Note3: Each grade level in the Recertification class will take a different test.

Note4: in Mid-Michigan and Upper Michigan, all classes last longer because they coincide with local referee meetings.
